Side by Side Analysis

Overview #

The side by side analysis feature allows users to play two videos on the same screen. This makes it easier to compare the motion taking place in each video. With Yogger, the analysis tools present when viewing one video are also available when viewing two. This allows users to collect more information on one screen and draw meaningful conclusions about their movements.

Why Side By Side Analysis? #

Side by side analysis has many use cases that can help athletes and non-athletes become more effective movers. Here we will explore some of these use cases to give users a better idea of how to apply this feature.

For Athletes: #

  1. Sports Performance Analysis: Athletes can use side by side analysis to compare their movements to professionals to identify areas for improvement. This can help optimize techniques and enhance performance.
  2. Injury Prevention: Athletes can use motion analysis to assess their biomechanics and detect potential sources of strain or injury risk. By comparing their movements to the ideal form, they can reduce the risk of overuse injuries.
  3. Equipment Optimization: Cyclists, for example, can analyze their riding posture and pedaling technique compared to professional rider. They can then make necessary adjustments and optimize their equipment setup for improved performance.
  4. Game Strategy: Team sports like football or basketball can benefit from motion analysis to understand how a team or individual players move on the field, helping coaches devise better strategies and tactics.

For Every Day: #

  1. Physical Rehabilitation: Patients undergoing physical therapy can benefit from side-by-side motion analysis to monitor their progress and ensure that they are performing exercises correctly. It can also help in the recovery process after injuries or surgeries.
  2. Ergonomics and Workplace Safety: In an industrial setting, motion analysis can be used to evaluate the ergonomics of workstations. It also helps in designing workspaces to reduce the risk of repetitive strain injuries and enhance workplace safety.
  3. Dance and Performing Arts: Dancers and actors can use motion analysis to refine their movements and body language for more expressive and efficient performances. It can also help instructors teach their students better.
  4. Musical Instrument Mastery: Musicians, especially those learning to play instruments, can benefit from comparing their playing technique with experienced musicians to improve their skills, posture, and finger movements.
  5. Gait Analysis: Gait analysis is essential for healthcare professionals to diagnose and treat gait-related issues in patients. Side-by-side motion analysis can provide valuable insights into walking and running patterns.
  6. Biomechanical Research: Researchers and engineers can use motion analysis for various non-athlete related applications, such as studying the movement of machinery components, robots, or the human body for medical research.

Side-by-side motion analysis is a versatile tool that can be applied in numerous fields to enhance performance, reduce the risk of injury, and improve overall movement and posture. Whether you’re an athlete looking to excel in your sport or an individual seeking to move more efficiently and safely in your daily life, this technology can be a valuable resource.
